DENTAL

An orthopantomogram (OPG) uses low-dose radiation to create a panoramic image of the upper and lower jaw. Dentists and orthodontists use them to detect cavities, severe gum disease and bony abnormalities in the jaw, and to check tooth position.

Lateral cephalography (Lat ceph) is performed to demonstrate the position of the upper teeth in relation to the lower teeth, and is very useful in planning dental treatments. This exam is perform using the same low-dose machine that OPGs are performed on.
